Pisa
Pisa SC vs. Como 1907 kicks off at 14:00 [GMT] on Tuesday, January 6, at the Arena Garibaldi.
Pisa, relegation-threatened, opened the new year with a hard-earned 1-1 draw away to Genoa, a result that did little to ease their growing concerns near the foot of the Serie A table. That stalemate marked their ninth draw of the league campaign—the most of any side in the division—and extended a worrying winless run to seven matches (0W, 3D, 4L).
Alberto Gilardino’s men have not tasted victory since a narrow 1-0 win over Cremonese in early November, leaving them 19th in the standings with just 12 points (1W, 9D, 8L). Home form has offered little respite; the Nerazzurri have collected a meagre six points (1W, 3D, 5L) from a possible 27 at the Arena Garibaldi, managing just one win and a solitary goal there since earning promotion.
With only 13 goals scored all season, the Torri are the joint second-lowest scorers in the league, and their recent record against Como offers scant encouragement. The Nerazzurri are also winless in their last five meetings with the visitors (0W, 4D, 1L), all of which came in Serie B.
Selection issues further complicate matters. Nigerian midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro is away on international duty in Morocco, while Juan Cuadrado and Calvin Stengs are both sidelined with thigh injuries.
A 3-5-2 formation may be deployed with Henrik Meister and Stefano Moreo leading the attacking line.
As WLLWW continue to impress after their return to the top flight, they sit sixth in the table with 30 points [8W, 6D, 3L] and are firmly in the mix for European qualification. Their upward trajectory has been clear, even as the season has delivered its share of twists.
Their upward trajectory briefly stalled when an 11-match unbeaten run was halted by successive defeats to title contenders Inter Milan and Roma. Cesc Fàbregas’ side responded emphatically.
They closed out 2025 with a convincing 3-0 victory over Lecce and carried that momentum into the new year by edging Udinese 1-0 last weekend.
There are, however, areas of concern for the visitors. The Biancoblù’s away form has been inconsistent, with just two wins from their last six league matches on the road [2W, 2D, 2L]. Goals have been particularly scarce in those fixtures, as they failed to find the net in four of those outings, raising questions about their cutting edge away from home.
Injuries could also test Fàbregas’ depth, as Assane Diao, Álvaro Morata and Edoardo Goldaniga are all unavailable. Anastasios Douvikas is expected upfront alongside Mërgim Vojvoda and Jesús Rodríguez when a 4—3—3 formation is employed.
